Overview: The Operation Theatre Technician is responsible for assisting in all surgical procedures by preparing and maintaining the operation theatre, ensuring the availability and functionality of surgical instruments, and providing support to surgeons and nurses during operations. The technician plays a key role in maintaining a sterile environment and ensuring patient safety before, during, and after surgery.

Key Responsibilities & Tasks

• Prepare and maintain the operation theatre before, during, and after surgical procedures.
• Ensure all surgical instruments, equipment, and supplies are properly sterilized and available for use.
• Assist the surgical team by passing instruments, sutures, and other necessary items during operations.
• To maintain aseptic and sterile techniques at all times to prevent infection.
• Help position and prepare patients for surgery under the supervision of nurses or surgeons.
• Check and maintain functionality of OT equipment such as lights, suction machines, cautery units, and anaesthesia machines.
• Handle and dispose off surgical waste according to hospital protocols.
• Maintain accurate records of surgical instruments, materials used, and sterilization logs.
• Assist in the post-operative cleaning and resetting of the OT for the next procedure.
• Support emergency surgical procedures and ensure readiness of the OT.
• Assist in implementing best practices, quality improvement initiatives, and clinical protocols.
• Participate in NABH/NABL/JCI, or other accreditation processes as part of quality initiatives.

Qualification & Experience:

• Diploma & BSc.in Operation Theatre Technology is highly preferred.
•  5+years of experience in a hospital or clinical OT environment.
• Well versed with latest techniques like laparoscopy/ Minimal Invasive Surgery/ Robotic/ Hybrid.
• Good knowledge of surgical instruments and sterilization techniques.
• Strong attention to detail, teamwork skills, and ability to work under pressure.
• Willingness to work flexible shifts, including nights and weekends if required.
