Senior Physiotherapist (JD-0037)

Overview: The Senior Physiotherapist plays a key role in delivering advanced physiotherapy services within the hospital. This role involves managing a diverse inpatient and outpatient caseload, supervising junior staff, and contributing to the development and delivery of high-quality, evidence-based care across departments such as orthopaedics, neurology, ICU, medical-surgical wards, and rehabilitation units.
Key Responsibilities & Tasks
- Independently assess, diagnose, plan, and implement treatment for patients with complex physical conditions.
- Deliver physiotherapy services across various hospital units including OPD and IPD.
- Manage patient caseloads efficiently while prioritizing urgent cases.
- Collaborate with multidisciplinary teams (MDTs) including doctors, nurses, occupational therapists, and other allied health professionals.
- Monitor and evaluate patient progress, making timely modifications to treatment plans.
- Contribute to early mobilization and discharge planning in coordination with case managers.
- Prepare duty rosters and ensure adequate staffing levels.
- Provide clinical leadership and mentorship to junior physiotherapists and assistants.
- Supervise clinical practice to ensure adherence to professional and hospital standards.
- Facilitate in-service training sessions and CPD activities within the department.
- Support the professional growth and performance appraisals of junior staff.
- Participate in hospital-led education programs and conferences.
- Maintain comprehensive and timely documentation in the hospital’s Electronic Medical Records (EMR) system.
- Participate in audits, quality improvement projects, and service development initiatives.
- Ensure compliance with hospital policies, clinical guidelines, and infection control procedures.
- Contribute to departmental reporting and performance metrics.
Qualification & Experience:
- Postgraduate in Physiotherapy from a recognized institution.
- Registration of Delhi Council for Physiotherapy and Occupational Therapy.
- 10+ years of clinical experience, preferably in a hospital or acute care setting.
- Advanced clinical skills in at least one specialist area (e.g., orthopedics, neuro-rehab, sports injuries).
- Strong communication, organizational, and leadership skills.
- Knowledge of hospital protocols, patient rights, and safety standards.
- Basic computer skills and familiarity with hospital management systems
