Senior Dietician (JD-0038)

Overview: The Senior Dietician is responsible for leading the hospital’s nutritional care services, providing expert dietary guidance to patients, and overseeing the work of junior dietitians and support staff. The role involves developing individualized nutrition care plans, collaborating with multidisciplinary medical teams, and ensuring compliance with clinical and safety standards in dietary practices.
Key Responsibilities & Tasks
- Assess the nutritional needs of inpatients and outpatients using evidence-based methods.
- Development of institutional medical nutritional plan.
- Develop, implement, and monitor personalized diet plans based on medical conditions, treatments, and patient preferences.
- Provide expert nutrition advice in areas such as diabetes, renal care, oncology, critical care, pediatrics, and gastrointestinal disorders.
- Contribute to departmental procurement and resource management.
- Prepare duty rosters and ensure adequate staffing levels.
- Conduct ward rounds, case discussions, and discharge planning.
- Supervise and mentor junior dietitians, interns, and dietary aides.
- Conduct training sessions for staff on nutrition protocols, therapeutic diets & food safety.
- Lead or support department quality improvement initiatives and audits.
- Work closely with doctors, nurses, pharmacists, and other healthcare professionals to provide holistic patient care.
- Liaise with the food services team to ensure meals meet patients’ dietary requirements.
- Maintain accurate documentation of assessments, care plans, and patient outcomes.
- Contribute to menu planning and nutrient analysis of hospital meals.
- Provide individual and group nutrition counseling to patients and families.
- Conduct health education sessions on preventive nutrition and disease management.
Qualification & Experience:
- Postgraduate in Nutrition and Dietetics from a reputed University.
- 10+ years of clinical experience in a hospital setting of 200+ bed, with at least 3-5 years in a senior or supervisory role.
- Experience in policy development training and NABH/JCI compliance is essential.
- In-depth knowledge of clinical nutrition and medical nutrition therapy.
- Strong leadership, communication, and interpersonal skills.
- Basic computer skills and familiarity with electronic medical records and dietetic software
