Security Officer (JD-0042)

Overview: The Security Officer is responsible for maintaining a safe and secure environment for patients, staff, visitors, and hospital property. This role involves surveillance, access control, emergency response, and enforcing hospital security protocols. The Security Officer plays a critical part in ensuring the hospital remains a secure and peaceful place for care delivery.
Key Responsibilities & Tasks
- Develop and implement policies, procedures, and SOP.
- Plan, Supervise & Execute disaster mock drills at regular interval.
- Oversee regulatory compliance, accreditation preparedness (NABH/NABL/JCI), and outsourced external audits to ensure documentation is complete, clear, and compliant with statutory and accreditation norms.
- Coordinate inspections and ensure timely renewal of licenses and statutory certifications pertaining to the Security Department.
- Ensure CCTV systems and other surveillance tools are properly functioning.
- Conduct regular patrols of hospital premises including wards, OPDs, emergency areas, parking lots, and restricted zones.
- Document and report all incidents of suspicious behaviour, security violations, or safety risks.
- Promptly address and manage alarms, emergencies, and security incidents.
- Assist in controlling patient crowds and managing disputes during emergencies.
- Coordinate with police, fire department, or ambulance services as required during emergencies and disasters.
- Maintain the safety and security of hospital premises, equipment, and essential infrastructure from damage, theft, or misuse.
- Monitor the movement of materials and ensure compliance with proper gate pass procedures.
- Manage and maintain order during hospital functions, VIP arrivals, or emergency scenarios.
- Manage the duty roster and training programs for security guards.
Qualification & Experience:
- Graduate/ Postgraduate in any stream.
- 8+ years of progressive experience in security management preferably in a 300 + bedded hospital in similar position.
- Military/ Para Military, law enforcement, or corporate security background is preferred.
- First Aid/CPR certification (preferred).
- Excellent observation and problem-solving skills.
- Strong communication and interpersonal abilities.
- Exposure to medico-legal issues and regulatory audits.
- Ability to remain calm and professional in stressful situations.
- Basic computer literacy for report writing and monitoring systems.
- Strong sense of integrity and responsibility.
