A Resident Medical Officer (RMO) in ED provides immediate, comprehensive care for patients in emergency, handling initial assessments, urgent treatments, life support, and coordinating with senior doctors, all while ensuring accurate documentation and supporting continuous patient monitoring in a fast-paced, 24/7 environment, often requiring night shifts and strong clinical skills in emergencies. 

Job Description of RMO – ED :

  1. Patient Assessment: Perform physical exams, diagnose conditions, and initiate immediate treatment for all new emergency admissions.
  2. Emergency Management: Respond to casualty calls, provide life support, manage critical situations, and stabilize patients before consultant involvement.
  3.  Treatment & Monitoring: Implement treatment plans, monitor vital signs and patient progress, order investigations (labs, imaging), and review results.
  4. Coordination: Communicate effectively with nurses, specialists, and other staff; assist senior doctors during rounds and complex cases.
  5. Documentation: Maintain detailed, accurate, and up-to-date patient records, ensuring clear care plans and preparing comprehensive discharge summaries.

Qualifications:

  1. MBBS or equivalent medical degree with a valid registration with DMC.
  2. Hands-on experience in emergency/hospital settings.
  3. Strong clinical, diagnostic, problem-solving, and decision-making abilities.
  4. Excellent communication and interpersonal skills.
  5. Ability to work under pressure in a dynamic environment.
  6. BLS/ACLS certification is often preferred. 

Experience:

  1. Minimum 1+ year of experience in medium to large hospital in similar role.
