Radiology Technician (JD-0064)
Overview: The Radiology Technician is responsible for performing diagnostic imaging procedures such as X-rays, CT scans, MRI, and other radiographic studies. The technician ensures the proper functioning and maintenance of imaging equipment, provides patient care during procedures, ensures accurate imaging, patient safety, strict adherence to AERB statutory requirements, radiation protection guidelines and hospital quality standards.
Key Responsibilities & Tasks
- Prepare patients for imaging procedures by explaining the process and addressing concerns.
- Position patients correctly to obtain accurate images while ensuring comfort and safety.
- Review patient medical history and relevant clinical information before procedures.
- Operate radiology equipment such as X-ray machines, CT scanners, and MRI machines.
- Ensure proper technique and exposure settings to produce high-quality diagnostic images.
- Perform routine quality checks and calibration on imaging equipment.
- Follow radiation safety protocols to protect patients, staff, and self from unnecessary exposure.
- Ensure compliance with ARB regulations, maintain equipment licenses, adherence to dose levels etc.
- Maintain radiation dose records, log books etc.
- Participate in internal audits and department quality control program.
- Report any equipment malfunctions or safety hazards immediately.
- Maintain accurate patient records, imaging logs, and reports.
- Assist radiologists by providing clear and precise images for interpretation.
- Document and report any abnormalities or observations as required.
- Clean, disinfect, and maintain imaging equipment regularly.
- Notify technical support or management of any equipment issues.
Qualification & Experience:
- Diploma or BSc. in Radiologic Technology or equivalent.
- 5+ years of experience in radiology department in a clinical or hospital setting.
- Strong knowledge of Imaging techniques, equipment and safety standards.
- Good communication, teamwork, and attention-to-detail skills.
- Ability to work under pressure and handle emergency cases when needed.
