Overview: The Hospital Pharmacist is responsible for the assistance in procurement as well as safe and accurate dispensing of medications across OPD, IPD, OT, and critical care areas. The role includes inventory control, regulatory compliance (including NDPS Act), and support to clinical teams to ensure effective patient care in line with NABH and JCI standards.

Key Responsibilities & Tasks

• Assistance in procurement of medicines/ consumables
• Dispense prescribed medications and verify prescriptions for dosage, appropriateness, and interactions.
• Counsel patients on medication usage and side effects.
• Manage and monitor inventory across OPD, IPD, OT, and emergency areas.
• Handle and document narcotics and controlled substances as per regulatory norms.
• Maintain records, support audits, and ensure compliance with quality and safety protocols.
• Liaise with clinical staff to resolve medication-related queries.
• Participate in pharmacy committees, quality improvement, and clinical initiatives.
• Ensure storage conditions, expiry tracking, and proper handling of high-risk medications.
• Any other duty assigned by the reporting manager.

Qualification & Experience:

• Bachelor’s Degree in Pharmacy (B. Pharma) – Mandatory
• Must hold a valid license/registration from the relevant pharmacy council or board
• 3–5+ years of experience in hospital pharmacy (OPD, IPD, OT, or narcotics)
• Familiarity with HIS, EMR, e-prescriptions, and clinical pharmacy practices.
• Experience in handling insurance claims, billing, and drug substitutions based on formulary.
• Working knowledge of drug interactions, contraindications, and therapeutic equivalents.
