Overview: The Endoscopy Technician assists doctors and nurses during diagnostic and therapeutic endoscopic procedures. The technician is responsible for preparing and maintaining endoscopy equipment, ensuring infection control, monitoring patient safety, and supporting the clinical team before, during, and after procedures.

Key Responsibilities & Tasks

• Prepare the procedure room, instruments, and ensure that all equipment, accessories and supplies are available and functional before procedures.
• Assist gastroenterologists during endoscopic examinations such as gastroscopy, colonoscopy, bronchoscopy, and ERCP, etc.
• Set up, calibrate and operate video endoscopy system, light resources, suction, insufflation units etc. as required.
• Maintain strict aseptic and infection control practices.
• Clean, disinfect, and sterilize endoscopy scopes and accessories after each procedure.
• Monitor and record patient vital signs during procedures and assist in emergency situations if required.
• Handle specimens collected during procedures and label them accurately.
• Maintain logs for disinfection, equipment maintenance, and stock of supplies.
• Ensure proper functioning of endoscopy equipment and report any faults or breakdowns immediately.
• Support patient care before and after procedures, ensuring comfort and safety.
• Ensure compliance with NABH guidelines.

Qualification & Experience:

• Diploma or BSc. in Endoscopy Technology & Operation Theatre Technology is preferred.
• 5+years of experience in a endoscopy unit preferably in hospital setting
• Knowledge of endoscopic equipment handling, sterilization, and patient monitoring.
• Certification in Basic Life Support (BLS) is preferred.
• Good communication, teamwork, and attention-to-detail skills.
• Ability to work under pressure and handle emergency cases when needed.
