Overview: The Deputy Nursing Superintendent (DNS) will support the Nursing Superintendent in overseeing the nursing services across SNHC. This role involves coordinating daily operations, supervising ANS and ward-level teams, and ensuring adherence to clinical standards and nursing protocols. The DNS plays a key role in implementing nursing strategies, auditing care delivery, managing resources, and maintaining high standards of patient care and safety.

Key Responsibilities & Tasks

  • Strategic planning and management of nursing services across the hospital.
  • Recruitment, evaluation, training and retention of qualified nursing staff.
  • Develop and implement policies, procedures, and standards of care.
  • Ensure regulatory compliance, accreditation readiness (NABH/JCI), patient care, facility management, and quality improvement.
  • Credentialing and Privileging of nursing staff.
  • Budget preparation and financial oversight for nursing services.
  • Oversee quality assurance programs, patient safety initiatives, nursing documentation audits to ensure completeness, legibility, and compliance with legal and accreditation norms.
  • Foster interdepartmental collaboration for patient care and operations.
  • Promote nursing research, professional development, and evidence-based practices.
  • Any other duty assigned by the reporting manager.

Qualification & Experience:

  • B.Sc./ M.Sc. Nursing or Nursing Administration is highly preferred.
  • Nursing Registration in State/Indian Nursing Council.
  • Certification in Hospital Administration or Management is an advantage.
  • Training in leadership, quality assurance, or healthcare management is desirable.
  • 10+ years of progressive clinical and administrative nursing experience in a 200 + bedded hospital setting.
  • At least 3–5 years of experience in a supervisory or managerial role (e.g., Ward In-Charge, Nursing Supervisor, or equivalent).
  • Experience with hospital quality standards, nursing audits, and policy implementation.
  • Familiarity with hospital accreditation (NABH/JCI) procedures and compliance requirements.
