Deputy Medical Superintendent (JD-0030)
Overview: The Deputy Medical Superintendent (DMS) supports the leadership in ensuring the smooth functioning of clinical and medical support services. The DMS plays a key role in maintaining clinical governance, enforcing quality and safety standards, coordinating between medical and administrative departments, and ensuring compliance with regulatory norms. The role demands strong leadership, coordination, and administrative skills, with a deep understanding of hospital systems and clinical workflows.
Key Responsibilities & Tasks
- Strategic planning and management of medical services across the hospital.
- Ensure smooth patient flow across OPD, IPD, ICU, Emergency, and OT.
- Liaise with consultants, resident doctors, and nursing teams to maintain effective clinical care delivery.
- Develop and implement policies, procedures, and standards of care.
- Ensure regulatory compliance, accreditation readiness (NABH/NBL/JCI), Clinical audits, facility management, and quality improvement initiative & infection control practice.
- Monitor medico-legal documentation, patient consent processes, and medical records accuracy.
- Oversee duty rosters, leave schedules, and availability of resident doctors and medical officers.
- Budget preparation and financial oversight for medical services.
- Oversee quality assurance programs, patient safety initiatives, medical documentation audits to ensure completeness, legibility, and compliance with legal and accreditation norms.
- Coordinate inspections and renewals of hospital licenses and statutory certifications.
- Supervise the Medical Records Department (MRD) to ensure proper documentation, coding, and storage of patient records.
- Ensure timely completion of discharge summaries, death certificates, and medico-legal reports.
- Work closely with Hospital Administration, HR, Pharmacy, and other departments for smooth functioning of clinical services.
- Participate in hospital management meetings, committees (like Infection Control, Ethics, Mortality & Morbidity), and policy formulation.
Qualification & Experience:
- MBBS/ BDS with MHA/MBA -Hospital Administration from the Reputed Institute.
- Delhi Medical Council/Registration in State/Medical Council of India.
- 8-10 years of progressive clinical and administrative experience in a 300 + bedded hospital setting.
- Excellent communication and interpersonal skills.
- Exposure to medico-legal issues and regulatory audits.
- Capable of handling both clinical and administrative responsibilities efficiently.
- Familiarity with HIS, EMR, and digital healthcare tool.
- Familiar with hospital accreditation (NABH/NABL/JCI) procedures and compliance requirements.
