Assistant Medical Superintendent (JD-0031)
Overview: The Assistant Medical Superintendent (AMS) plays a key administrative and operational role in managing the medical services of a hospital. AMS assist in ensuring smooth functioning of the hospital, compliance with healthcare regulations, coordination between departments, and the delivery of high-quality patient care.
Key Responsibilities & Tasks
- Strategic planning and management of medical services across the hospital.
- Ensure smooth patient flow across OPD, IPD, ICU, Emergency, and OT.
- Liaise with consultants, resident doctors, and nursing teams to maintain effective clinical care delivery.
- Ensure regulatory compliance, accreditation readiness (NABH/NBL/JCI), Clinical audits, facility management, and quality improvement initiative & infection control practice.
- Monitor medico-legal documentation, patient consent processes, and medical records accuracy.
- Oversee duty rosters, leave schedules, and availability of resident doctors and medical officers.
- Oversee quality assurance programs, patient safety initiatives, medical documentation audits to ensure completeness, legibility, and compliance with legal and accreditation norms.
- Coordinate inspections and renewals of hospital licenses and statutory certifications.
- Supervise the Medical Records Department (MRD) to ensure proper documentation, coding, and storage of patient records.
- Ensure timely completion of discharge summaries, death certificates, and medico-legal reports.
- Work closely with Hospital Administration, HR, Pharmacy, and other departments for smooth functioning of clinical services.
- Participate in hospital management meetings, committees (like Infection Control, Ethics, Mortality & Morbidity), and policy formulation.
Qualification & Experience:
- MBBS/BDS with MHA/MBA -Hospital Administration from the Reputed Universities or Colleges.
- Delhi Medical Council/Registration in State/Medical Council of India.
- Certification in Hospital Administration or Management is an advantage.
- Training in leadership, clinical workflows, quality assurance, or healthcare management is desirable.
- 5+ years of progressive clinical and administrative nursing experience in a 300 + bedded hospital setting.
- Excellent communication and interpersonal skills.
- Exposure to medico-legal issues and regulatory audits.
- Capable of handling both clinical and administrative responsibilities efficiently.
- Familiarity with HIS, EMR, and digital healthcare tool.
- Familiar with hospital accreditation (NABH/NABL/JCI) procedures and compliance requirements.
